My Heart Is in Heaven

It’s enchanting to watch new love in the eyes of a young man or woman. With eyes glazed over and in a distant place, you immediately know when the lovers are separated by distance. Come with me as I reminisce, please.
Boarding a train in Boston to meet my then fiancé gave one such spectator an enchanting experience. A fellow male passenger noted the look of love in my eyes and felt compelled to address it with me.
“You’re going to meet your beau, aren’t you?” is how he began.
I smiled and asked, “How did you know?”
He replied, “Your eyes and everything else about you, told me. Your eyes sparkle with the look of love." He continued, "You move about with an airy strut; and your smile dazzles!"
It was November and visiting from Florida, I was freezing cold! I thought of telling him this was the reason for what he saw in my eyes, on my face, and in my step but decided against it. Yes, my heart and mind, like new love, were set on seeing my future husband, who is now my former husband.
The mind and heart are elsewhere. My affections are in a covenant relationship with my Savior and Lord. Paul tells us in Colossians 3:1-2, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."
There is a faraway look in my eyes for sure; a definite swagger to my step; a smile on my face and joy in my heart because of Jesus Christ. His seat at the right hand of the Father causes me to look heavenward. What a joyful thought because He conquered death to be seated where He is! Praise God!
Thank you, Father, for giving me someone and something so awesome to set my heart and mind on. He will not become my “former” because, “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come.” In Jesus' name. Amen.
