October 15th - Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

October is Awareness Month. To name a few, Domestic Violence, and Breast and Prostate Cancer are observed during the month of October.

The majority of you may wonder what is significant about October 15th. You can easily figure out October 15 is the 288th day of the year (289th in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. Not difficult to discover there are 77 days remaining until the end of the year, after October 15th.

October 15th has more significance to many women, men and families who have suffered loss. We have suffered the loss of one or more babies in miscarriage, stillbirth or delivery.

October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. It also happens to be my birthday. I was filled with emotion when I learned this day was proclaimed by Congress to remember our angels who are with our Father in heaven.

In October 1988, President Ronald Reagan Proclaimed October as National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. "Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day" is October 15th.

"When a child loses his parent, they are called an orphan. When a spouse loses her or his partner, they are called a widow or widower. When parents lose their child, their isn't a word to describe them. This month recognizes the loss so many parents experience across the United States and around the world. It is also meant to inform and provide resources for parents who have lost children due to miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, stillbirths, birth defects, SIDS, and other causes."

I haven't wanted to talk about this topic much since losing Chelsea thirteen years ago. I was chastised by the Holy Spirit and here I am in obedience. I can help others and myself. Chelsea was my fifth miscarriage. I didn't want to try again and didn't. A marriage ended and I started afresh. The painful memories were constant but now, I have recognized the purpose for my life from excruciating pain.

You are asked to join in a worldwide candle lighting ceremony at 7pm on October 15th. For additional information on this day of Remembrance, visit: www.October15th.com and iMiscarried.com.

God chooses those that He knows will do the work no matter how difficult it is. I am sure she is sitting in His arms as we speak. Hi Teresa, thank you! I'm thankful and humbled by God's goodness. I just love the way He loves me because that's done through others such as you in a virtual community. The care, compassion and comments are real and deeply cherished. I've always said if I were going to be Christian, I would be a good one, a marked and distinct one. Christ placed that inside me. When I served the world, I did so with gusto. I owe Him much more! So, I try by doing what I can.

I'm thankful for you!

Hugs,

Avis

Michael,

I lit a candle for your baby, too. I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for reading and commenting. I'm delighted to have been able to give you the 411 on this special day. You and your wife have far more people than you realized praying and remembering you and the loss of your first baby.

Many blessings to you and yours.

Blessed regards,
Avis
