Preamble: I do a bit of writing for friends and others placing personal ads via newspaper or Internet sites. My closest friend asked me to put together something for him. I know him to a fault or I would be dating him. He's a wonderful person, joking aside. With his permission, I have posted his profile. He could have hosted his own Reality Show with the results of the following:
I am a male who has the courage to stand up to a woman's emotional strength, yet learn from her deepest knowing. Indeed this creates in both of us an innate integrity and healthy boundary.
I am fit and enjoy the outdoors. I kayak and canoe in turbulent whitewater, backpack and enjoy a leisurely hike on the beach or mountains.
I take pleasure from solitude, but enjoy the closeness and playfulness of a woman. I now have time to travel, and live the "out of the box" experiences I desired in my youth. I look forward to feeling the sensuousness of a good art exhibit, and the pleasures of music and poetry.
I read at least one book a week and relish meaningful and stimulating conversation. I delight in people who continue in their learning experience. I have found the happiest time in a relationship is with a woman who is growing and has found herself again. I believe a woman must fight hard to keep her spirit and not allow her creative life to wither. The soul-filled woman brings to my life a relationship that gains meaning, depth and health.
The most exciting and passionate times in my relationships are when the boundaries and definition of the "you" and "I" become the "We". Then with this exhilarating connection the true cycles of sexuality, creativity, work, and play are reestablished. I would like to correspond before getting to know someone intimately.
I sincerely look forward to flourishing and growing in this shared experience.
Ideal Person
Across the wall of the world, A River sings a beautiful song. It says come rest here by my side. Lift up your eyes upon this day breaking for you. Give birth again to the dream.
I am seeking to correspond with a woman who is anticipating something different in a relationship. A relationship where each sex does not strive to outwit the other! Instead, I want to communicate with a woman who acknowledges the differences between a man and woman, and strives to use these differences to forge a good connection.
I want to identify with a woman who is willing to make the radical shift from "I" and "You" to "We": I want to learn from a woman who is energetic in opening her arms to the flames of a passionate life, the breath to speak what she knows, and possess the courage to stand up to what she sees without looking away.
I am looking for a woman who seeks her feminine soul and has the courage to speak intimately about her spirituality, anger, guilt, resentment, shame and sex. If you are willing to wrestle collectively with the gender differences, and connect to your deep cherished desires-write to me. Let's learn together to bridge the poles of dread and yearning, to emerge from the gender isolation into a true and sane mutuality.
Disclaimer: We're friends because we allow each other to simply be.

Top-level comments on this article: (6 total)Sistah A, where is this guy, I want to date him. ha!(you know I'm kidding) Well put together, I can only imagine the flood of responses. You have been holding out on us--where is that romance novel! Sistah TSistah T, of course, I know you were kidding but I understand it, too. I've known this man for ten years now and he is genuine. We're not equally yoked and friendship works best.
I am flattered you think I've been holding out. *giggle* I believe I will be given an opportunity to go to go within for a couple of months to at least being writing. I'm working on that among many other things.
Thanks again, Sistah T!
Blessings and much love,
Sistah A
He seems to fall under the "too good to be true" category. No?Sincerely, a needle in a haystack would be more accurate.
Happy to know you were here, thanks for that. (Now my happy dance - hoping you're home.) :-)
hi avis, you make those words swoon.he sounds like a very nice man, and i hope someone just as nice responds.i think i told you, but, i love your picture.my best to you, sueSue, thanks for the great compliment! Yes, he found someone who has his attention. I think she's authentic, too.
And yes you did tell me about the pic and again, thank you. Glad you like it.
Take special care,
Avis
Glad your friend has found someone Avis! Everyone deserves to have that special someone in their life. You are a good friend, he's lucky to have you!Thank you very much for reading and commenting, Brianna. We have a special friendship and thankfully, one that should not cause anyone to feel threatened or jealous.
Hey, I even want to date this guy! OOPS, Sorry, didn't really mean that! lol Does he have a sister?Seriously, I think any girl who reads this ad would be rather intimidated by it unless she really knows herself and has a strong personality, but that is probably the type he is looking for anyway. In that case, it works.LOL at you, David! I couldn't agree with you more about my friend. He's eccentric and although I did not know Howard Hughes, he's much like his personality. He doesn't have the wealth Hughes had but isn't lacking, either. The ad attracted more curious kittens than potential matches but one turned up and they were made for each other.
Thanks for reading, David.
Hey, is there really such a guy? If there is..he is an endangered specie! Well, would love to meet him though..he is once in a lifetime!!! They say 'good guys' are taken and what's left are you know...don't want to spill it out from my mouth now. But, I guess he is too good to be true...I've known someone from the past who has almost the same wish list but turned out to be a Bogus. Its so easy to put words together to make it sounds good to the ear.
