Less than 48 hours after submitting an article on Domestic Violence, the brutal murders of Oscar-winning actress, Jennifer Hudson's Mom and brother hit the news. The earliest reports say the deaths are related to domestic violence.

Oddly enough, October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The reports surrounding the investigation are not conclusive although arrests have been made. This article will not rehash this information. Many of Miss Hudson's fans are grieving with her and offering support in the comments section of the news articles on numerous sites.

She is also receiving expressed support from the Entertainment industry. American Idol mates are sending condolences and prayers, along with Sex and the City co-stars, cast members from Dream Girls and The Secret Life of Bees. This Dream Girl is experiencing a nightmare that is both unbelievable and heart-wrenching. Reports say she credits her family for keeping her grounded after her newly found fame. They were stabilizing forces in her life.

Men and women are encouraged to speak out against physically abusive people in their lives. Having never experienced such abuse, I am unable to know what I would do but feel leaving the situation is best. Starting over with nothing would be better than having my life ended prematurely due to the physical violence of someone I thought cared for me.

I have witnessed such abusive behavior as a child in my neighborhood. It was very frightening. It was a miracle the female in this relationship was not killed. She remained in the relationship until her husband passed away. Seven children were witnesses to this abuse and the girls married men who are physically abusive. They learned acceptance of this behavior from their mother. The boys are alcoholics and one is estranged from his family. This is tragic.

These deaths are tragedies. Domestic Violence is a serious problem affecting families worldwide. Please seek help if you are in a situation involving physical abuse. As family members and friends, please offer help. If you fear for your safety, report the incident. The proper authorities will know best how to handle the situation.

Our prayers and condolences are with Jennifer Hudson and her family. We also pray for other victims who are silent. May this horrific incident ignite your soul, open your heart, give you a voice to speak out on your own behalf, and the will to leave. Your life is valuable and worth saving.

If you are in crisis or need help, please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or TTY for the Deaf: 1-800-787-3224. Help is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Hi Avis -- I wasn't aware that this month is Domestic Violence Awareness Month -- how sad a month is to be dedicated for this -- I heard the news about this while working and thought I misunderstood what I heard; I feel so sad for her and her family - I can not imagine what they are feeling or going through -- I join you and others in praying for her and all who are victims of this terrible epidemic -- may God help us! Thanks for sharing this, Avis!

Hi Judy, happy Sunday! I only became aware of this being Domestic Violence Awareness Month on Friday. A sad news report caught my attention and was so disturbing, it prompted me to write about it. I love how our Lord works, I have met a wonderful lady in Tulsa because of that article. :-)

When I first heard the news, I thought it happened to Jennifer Hudson. I immediately stopped packing and came to the Internet. I then learned the circumstances which were still unfolding. What the article doesn't mention is her seven year old nephew is still missing.

Thank you for joining me and others in prayer for her and all victims. Oh, and I agree with you on "how sad a month is to be dedicated for this." The senseless violence needs to end.
