"She works hard for the money!"
No, not Tiger Woods nor Tony the Tiger from Kellogg's Sugar Frosted Flakes. Have you heard of “niche" marketing? A business has to find a ‘hook’ to really be successful. Well, a Memphis, Tennessee business owner discovered a scantily clad marketing tool to help his business grow.
The secret to Tiger Time Lawn Care marketing success is bikinis! The employees of Tiger Time wear bikinis as they perform their job duties. The owner, Lee Cathey, was looking for ways to generate a lot of “word of mouth" buzz for his new business. He had seen the idea a few months prior and thought he’d give it a try, an experiment of sorts. He decided to take the Hooters business model to the world of lawn care with his company.
First, he had to find employees willing to operate power equipment while clad in only a bikini. And he did! The employees love that they can also get a tan while working. His “experiment" worked and soon his business began to grow.
Reports say Tiger Time’s staff caused quite a stir in the community and a local Fox News channel sent a film crew out to videotape the bikini staff during their daily lawn service route. All of this exposure without having to pay for it is what catapulted Tiger Time Lawn Care to the spotlight.
The best advertising is word of mouth! I wonder what happens during the winter months. Will the bikini clad staff go in hibernation? Does Memphis get enough snow for the owner to worry about frostbite and hypothermia? I guess we’ll have to wait to see what the buzz is in mid-January about Tiger Lawn Care Service.
If you own and operate your own lawn care business and are looking for a unique marketing angle to really gain attention; why not try adding a bikini lawn care service? In no time you too may find yourself inundated with media interview requests which will lead to new clients signing up for your services.
I wonder if the employees get a uniform allowance? I love America!

Avis, I loved your last line: "I wonder if the employees get a uniform allowance? I love America!" Well, if I ever have to look for a job, I wonder what Lee's interview would be like or what would be the appropriate dress. In advertising, no publicity is bad publicity and he obviously found 'his hook'. Written just like a news piece. Nicely done, Ms. Avis!

Judi, thanks! This was a fun piece to write. I had to restrain myself, actually. As you so well know, everyone's sense of humour doesn't come into agreement. I appreciate your comments, Mrs. Judi!
Well,
I've got this business assistant and she didn't buy into the bikini thing for bringing in more business. Sigh! Anyway, I have no grass in Arizona or the gal in your pic would be hired! Funny piece.

*laughing* James, your biz assistant didn't need a bikini to get her job. Good for her! You made me laugh. And trust me, you're not the only male who'd hire that girl in the pic, grass or no grass! Thanks for commenting.
Well Avis very informing. Well knowing you are a fair minded person I assume that goes both ways? So for you guys out there who have the BODY for it here is your opportunity. As for me I'd be happy just to have someone cut the grass. It tis too hot to sit out there and watch. Best Wishes, Robert.

Robert, you're in my head. Yes, I'm a fair minded person and I was disappointed not to see a young man in the pic. You know, the cabana boy type, buff bod, six-pack of rippling muscles, pushing a high powered machine. Maybe they'll use them come winter? I agree too, it's too hot to be working out in the heat but many are blessed to have jobs. I don't know how roofers can take it, for example. Thanks for taking a read and commenting. Warmest regards, Avis.
